Public opinion in the US is predominantly in support of LGBT rights. But conservatives have launched a barrage of state legislative drives to curtail those rights, particularly attacking the rights of transgender kids and their families. It’s disheartening – the US has lead the way with LGBT progressive legislation and court decisions, including the Supreme Court’s decision to allow gay marriage.
But then, as Nina Simone sang, don’t all civil rights movements bring backlash?
