Advocates have filed several cases together at the Delhi High Court making several arguments for gay marriage in India. One case argues the Constitution; other cases argue that existing Indian marriage laws allow gay marriage.
Read the government’s argument in this The Swaddle. It sounds so familiar!
Indian culture doesn’t allow for gay marriage. Marriage is between a man and a woman. Blah blah blah!
The same arguments have been made in the US and elsewhere. The basic argument? Tradition! Tradition! We don’t want change. We want Tradition!
Well folks, the times are changing. India is getting ready for gay marriage, so everyone will just have to adjust! The LGBTQ rights movement continues to grow around the world. I hope my novel helps to further that cause.
